SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

This senior level engineer is responsible for the mechanical design of Passive Microwave components for space applications.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Provide senior mechanical engineering and detailed design support for the design and production of passive microwave products, including mass estimates and stress, thermal and dynamic design and analysis using calculations and FE methods.
• Optimize designs to maximize RF performance, minimize mass, stress and labor/cost of project engineering work and ensure designs are compliant with customer’s specifications and interface constraints.
• Develop, review and approve drawings and associated product specifications and interface constraints. Interact with suppliers for model or drawing interpretation.
• Requires working for long periods at computer work station, occasional travel to vendors and customers and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
• Will mentor and train more junior Mechanical Engineers, as appropriate.

Position Requirements:

• Requires a minimum of 10 years in detailed mechanical design.
• Must be expert in geometric dimension and tolerance technologies (GD&T) and proficient in the use of Pro-E design and mechanical and thermal analysis software (i.e., Pro-Mechanica and IDEAS-TMG).
• Passive microwave space hardware expertise preferred.
• Position requires excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communications skills, experience in conducting group presentations and competence in using PC based work stations and general office equipment.
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritize and manage work load independently. May assist junior Mechanical Engineers in managing workload and provide technical direction.
• BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with emphasis in finite element methods, heat transfer, vibrations and dynamics required. M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent desired.
